We are pleased to be able to offer laser surgery for your pet. For many surgical procedures, the laser can replace the scalpel and provide a better alternative to traditional surgery. Laser surgery is not new, and as a matter of fact, it has been successfully used on humans for over 30 years. The human experience is proving to be beneficial for pets and their owners. We are pleased to be the only hospital in our area to offer laser surgery specifically for pets.
Why laser surgery?
Less Pain - Laser surgery seals nerve endings as it cuts through tissue. It produces less pain both during the surgery and post-operatively.
Less Bleeding - The laser seals small blood vessels during surgery which allows your doctor to perform surgeries with extraordinary precision. This also reduces the amount of time of some procedures, reducing the need for additional anesthesia.
Less Swelling - Laser energy does not crush, tear, or bruise because only a narrow beam of intense light contacts the tissue.
Laser surgery also lowers the risk of infection by sterilizing as it removes diseased tissue and killing bacteria that cause infection. In addition to less risk, recovery time is rapid and there is less post-operative discomfort. Our laser is ideal for a wide variety of surgical procedures for dogs, cats, birds and other pet's. Laser surgery can correct many common conditions such as cysts, tumors, warts, hot spots and infections that may occur around the eyes, ears, in the mouth and anywhere on the skin. Specialized internal procedures are also possible. Your veterinarian will be able to tell you if your pet's procedure can be performed with a laser.
